Thoughts

Generous to a fault with an infectious laugh. Neil was not a man to be caged in London or in an office behind a desk at Lousy and Godless at Lloyd's. No he was independent, clever and headstrong very proud of being Scots with some grand Irish. His greatest possession was his father's glengarry. A terrible MGB driver, a keen lover of dogs and fun company. I have no idea how we have lost Neil but I will remember him fondly. How could anyone forget him standing stark naked on Essex Rd outside the flat with a fire poker in the early hours having sworn blind he had seen a ghost? He wore his Wellington College tie with pride, his shoes always had holes and you'll struggle to have found a kinder or more loyal man. God bless you Neil EE Malcolm. Your sister and UL did you proud with this memorial. Happy memories from when we first met 33 years ago. Blaise

Just finished a wander through the picture gallery and so many of the photos just contained perfect views of Neil. I've never been a picture taker or looked to be in a photo, but this moment has maybe changed my thinking! To the contributors I thank you and to those who read this wee thought. Please add to it and let others see this character shine a bit longer. DMcN

Will remember or try to remember a few nights in the Drumtochty Tavern but most of the recent memories will be around our Sunday telephone calls, none of which could be printable or even repeatable! We just seemed to pick a subject or individuals and set about insulting, berating, generally using a good level of profanity and laughing our heads off. Yes it was a very juvenile conversation but it happened often enough to appear to have a therapeutic effect? I will miss Neal for this bit alone, let alone the fixing of the loose slates on my roof and the attempts to maintain that old Fiat car he appeared in on occasions where things needed bolted back on?? To those who may have known Neal in different times, I hope none of this surprises or offends. Best wishes to him, his memories and all who remember and will continue to remember him.
